I was looking for a stainless steel covered saucepan with a non-stick cooking surface and this one caught my eye after a lot of shopping. When it arrived, I was highly disappointed that nowhere on the packaging did I see references to a non-stick cooking surface although the title of the product on Amazon is described as "Hamilton Beach Nonstick Contempo Saucepans". The quality of this product appears decent and it would be unfair to rate it on just the bad description on this site, so on that basis I gave it a 3; but I'm still returning it as it doesn't fit my needs. Another reviewer apparently had the same experience.

Beware that the "Stainless Steel" color listed for the 2-qt. Hamilton Beach saucepan is NOT non-stick. It is not actually a "color;" it is a different material from the "Black" color (which is truly nonstick). I had to return the former and order the latter. Have the black one in hand now: it is pretty nice, medium-light weight, has nice steel grooved bottom to even heat conduction (haven't tested this property yet). My qualm is that the handle is rather too long: not necessary to have that looped part at the end, and it takes up extra cupboard space. Also, the lid fits poorly -- not a tight fit. But passable for ~$20.

I love this pan, but I have to agree with the other reviewers comment on the glass lid. Food can get into the crack in between the glass and the metal at the edge of the lid. I use a nylon bristle brush after leaving my lid in hot soapy water dith a drop of clorox to get it clean, but I can see how some people would not want the trouble. Luckily, I rarely use the lid in such a way as to get it very messy anyway. The Unison series and the Commercial series from the same company does not have this problem.

Back to the pan, the non-stick surface is very hard, and I have had mine 5 years now and it still looks great. The metal conducts the heat evenly, and the handle does not get hot, depending on how you use it. It is not dishwasher safe and requires hand washing, but it is very easy to wash these pans.

The trouble with this pot is that food eventually works its way between the glass lid and the lid's metal rim. Because of the lid's design, there's no way to remove this food, so it sits there, no doubt forming an excellent growth medium for bacteria. I ended up throwing the pot and lid out.

This product is perfect for meals for one or two people. I can brown meat and/or vegetables in the pan and then transfer it to the oven for roasting and deliver it to the table with a serving spoon. My only problem to date has been warming the pan, (receiving a telephone call that lasted over a half hour) and the pan and lid burned. The interior of the pan looks all right; however, it now tends to stick; and the interior of the lid is a copper color, Does anyone know how to clean the lid and make the pan stick proof again. Other than my absentmindedness, this has been the perfect pan for my household.

As long as you are preparing a meal for yourself rather than for a family, Caphalon's Nonstick 10-inch Everyday Pan is just the one you want to fry a small piece of meat or fish and a serving or two of veggies. Just a tablespoon of olive oil on medium heat is sufficient to saute the vegetables and later cook a serving of meat or fish. Another feature of this pan is how easily it cleans after it cools. Amazon sells it for a very reasonable $39.99. I really love this frying pan.I use it more than any other.

This is a great pan to use either on the stove top or in the oven. It fits nicely in the oven because there isn't a long handle (just two small handles on either side) like on some other brands of high end cookware. It washes up nicely, but keep in mind that this piece is not dishwasher safe (per the manufacturer). I have made chili, stew, and sauces in my pan, as well as scrambled eggs for a large group and browned different types of meat. I find I am using this far more than I thought I would.
